Balasore / Baleshwar District | |
Balasore is one of the coastal district of Orissa,lies on the northern most part of the state having 21 degree 03’ to 21 degree 59’ North Latitude & 86 degree 20’ to 87 degree 29’ East Longitude. Broadly this district can be divided into three geographical regions, namely, the Coastal belt, the inner alluvial plain and the North-Western hills. The coastal belt is about 26 Kms wide and shapes like a strip. In this region, sand dunes are noticed along the coast with some ridges. This region is mostly flooded with brackish water of estuarine rivers which is unsuitable for cultivation. But, presently this area is utilized for coconut and betel cultivation. The second contiguous geographical region is deltaic alluvial plain. Two important rivers of Orissa, namely: - Budhabalanga and Subarnarekha have passed through this district from west to east before surging into the Bay of Bengal. The soil of Balasore district is mostly alluvial laterite. |

Bhadrak District : | |
Bhadrak subdivision of the undivided Balasore district became a new district on 1st april'1993. Bhadrak having a rich heritage and history derives its name as legend has it, from the Goddess Bhadrakali whose temple stands on the bank of the river Salandi. It is a level trac of allivial soil with a gradual slope eastwards to the Bay of Bengal. A number of deltaic rivers viz. Salandi, Baitarani, Kansabansa, Gamol, Mantei, Genguti, Kochila, Reba and Kapali pass through and around the District. |

Ganjam District : |
The district got it's name from the word "Ganj-i-am" which means the Granary of the World. The district is named after the old township and European fort of Ganjam situated on the northern bank of river Rushikulya which was the head quarter of the district. |

Kendrapada District : |
Kendrapara District is a new district; it was formed in the year of 1994. Kendrapara District lies in the river delta formed by the Brahmani and Baitarani rivers. The Bhitarkanika Mangroves, Bhitarkanika National Park, and Gahirmatha Beach lie in the district. Kendrapada is also known as the Tulasi Khetra. The river Gobari flows through this district. It is also known for its spinning mills. |

Puri being a coastal district of Orissa , is famous for its Historic antiquities ,Religious sanctuaries , Architectural Grandeur , Sea-scape beauty,moderate climate.It holds a wealth of attraction for the visitors. It boasts of a continuous history from the 3rd Century B.C. to the present day and its unique monuments like those of Lord Jagannath at Puri , the Sun God at Konark are the famous in the world. It has the Chilika lake , one of the largest brackish water lakes in India, that holds a picturesque Sea-Scape beauty. It offers an ideal resort for birds who migrate from different parts of the continent. |
