SUBJECT : Science city 

Chennai Science Festival 2013 was held at Anna Science Gem Park. The theme of the event was on “Biodiversity & Food Security.”Science City, Department of Higher Education, Government of Tamil Nadu established with the prime objective of Popularising Science among public had introduced the novel and innovative “CHENNAI SCIENCE FESTIVAL” under the theme “SCIENCE IN EVERYDAY LIFE” in the year 2008 and has been organising this event annually since then. The main objective of conducting science festival is to create a sense of excitement in science among youngsters and to create awareness of the science behind the day to day activates. This year the 6th edition of the Chennai Science Festival 2013 on the theme “Biodiversity & Food Security” has been scheduled from 30th January to 3rd February,2013 at the Anna Gem Science Park School, Gandhi Mandapam Road, Chennai 600 025.

The salient features of the Chennai Science Festival were an exhibition of 150 stalls with the participation of 125 educational and research institutes belonging to both the Central and the State Governments. Popular Lectures were delivered by eminent scientists followed by panel discussions on “Biodiversity Issues and Concerns”,“Child Health and Stress”,“Energy” and "Career Guidance''.

The exhibition will be inaugurated by Thiru P. Palaniappan, Honourable Minister for Higher Education on 30.01.2013 at the Anna Gem Science Park School. Tamil Nadu Lifetime Achievement Award for Women Scientists, Tamil Nadu Young Women Scientists Award and Children’s Science Academy Awards were presented on the occasion.
